Training on Urban Planning and Construction for Disaster Risk Reduction for Municipalities
“Safe City Safe Life Training Program” is aimed to increase awareness level of community about disaster preparedness, structural and urban risks and the roles to be taken by local governments.
Within this context, we have prepared training modules and materials for three target groups; decision makers, technical staff, and community representatives and organized pilot training programs in ISMEP pilot municipalities. With feedbacks from participants after pilot training program, we revised the training materials and contents.
Within the training program, we used participatory training techniques oriented to have participants produce information and increase their knowledge level by discussing with each other. At the same time, we enabled participants to increase their awareness level about factors that increase disaster risk on building stock forming the urban environment and their usage.
