Federation of Consultants from Islamic Countries (FCIC) organized the “FCIC International Engineering Forum” on November 25-26, 2016.
The forum traditionally organized annually was, this year, held in Istanbul in line with events organized by the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC) and the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The forum titled mitigation of disaster risk in the member countries aimed to provide a platform for international engineering and construction companies to develop their business and to establish partnership among member countries.. More than 50 participants from 50 countries attended the event where the opening speech was delivered by IPCU Director Kazım Gökhan Elgin who made a presentation introducing ISMEP Project and detailing the proactive earthquake preparedness works under the project, and answered questions
Site visits to ISMEP projects
In the 2nd day of event, site visits accompanied by IPCU Deputy Directors Emin Atak and Yalçın Kaya were made. In the Okmeydanı Training and Research Hospital, the participants were informed about the progress and technical details of the project. During the visit, questions of the participants were answered, in particular emphasizing that the seismic isolations used in the hospitals would ensure uninterrupted service even during earthquake.
